RMS Proband 60

Proband 60 is a preformed thermoplastic overbanding  tape for use on joints in asphalt and concrete surfaces  to help prevent the ingress of water and reducing the  likelihood of early life fretting and failure of the joint.  The addition of a high psv aggregate ensures the  overbanding maintains a high skid resistance  throughout its service life.

Application

Proband 60 is easily installed with minimal equipment  required. Ensure the joint is clean and free from any contaminate which would inhibit good adhesion. The surface  should be dry and above 0°C. Using a gas flame torch,  gently warm the surface to receive Proband 60. For  applications onto Concrete, Probit Bitumen Primer should  first be applied and allowed to dry. For applications onto  bituminous surfaces, the Proband 60 can be applied directly  without the need for a primer.  

Cut the Proband 60 to size using a sharp bladed knife and lay into  position along the joint. A slight overlap of Proband 60 is required when  joining sections. Once satisfied the Proband 60 is positioned correctly,  use the lit gas torch and with a powerful flame apply heat approximately  200mm above the surface in a slow sweeping motion. As heating  progresses the Proband 60 will become molten. Care should be taken  not to overheat to avoid burning and discolouration. Continue heating  process until the whole striphas been heated and become molten.  Allow to cool typically 5 - 10 minutes. Check to ensure the edges of the  Proband 60 are well adhered (use a flat blade or screwdriver and ensure  material can not be prised upward) and apply heat again if required until  a good bond has been achieved. Allow to fully cool before opening to  traffic.

Storage

12 month shelf life when kept in a dry area protected from frost and in unopened packaging. Extreme  temperatures and direct sunlight should be avoided.
